Mohammed bin Rashid announces cabinet reshuffle

Mohammed bin Rashid: After consulting with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and receiving his approval, and as part of the ongoing development in the UAE government structure, we announce the formation of a new ministerial position as follows:

  • Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has joined the UAE government as Deputy Prime Minister and has been appointed Minister of Defense of the UAE.
  • Hamdan is a supportive and beloved leader. We are confident that he will be a valuable addition to the UAE government and a major contributor to shaping the future of the UAE.
  • Appointment of Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan as Deputy Prime Minister, in addition to his duties as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
  • Ahmed Belhoul is appointed Minister of Sports and President of the Higher Colleges of Technology, in addition to his duties as President of the UAE Space Agency.
  • Appointment of Alia Abdullah Al Mazrouei as Minister of State for Entrepreneurship and SMEs.
  • Merging the Emirates School Establishment and the Federal Agency for Early Education with the Ministry of Education and appointing Sarah Al Amiri as Minister of Education in the UAE.
  • Appointment of Abdul Rahman Al-Awar as Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in addition to his current duties as Minister of Emiratisation and Human Resources in the federal government.
