UAE cyclist Mohammad Al Mutaiwei clinched silver medal in Track Asia Cup

National team cyclist Mohammad Al Mutaiwei clinched a silver medal in the individual pursuit race at the Track Asia Cup 2024, which began today in Thailand and will continue until next Friday.

The UAE team is participating with seven cyclists across the men’s, women’s, and youth categories.

Al Mutaiwei set a new UAE record with a time of 4:29.7 minutes over a distance of 4 km, averaging a speed of 53 km per hour. He finished just behind Korean cyclist Park Sang-hong, who recorded a time of 4:25.9 minutes, while Kazakhstan’s Maxim Konkin secured third place.

This marks the third medal for Mohammad Al Mutaiwei at the Asian level. He previously won silver in the individual pursuit at the Asian Championships in India and another silver at the Asian Road Championships in Kazakhstan two months ago. Al Mutaiwei is currently ranked seventh in the world for the individual pursuit category.
