The Ministry of Health and Prevention has warned against counterfeit versions of the world’s second-most expensive drug, “Soliris”, which contains the scientific substance “euclizumab” for the treatment of a rare genetic defect in children. The drug is manufactured by “Alexion” company, and the annual cost per patient is about $ 409,000 (AED 1.5 million).

The Ministry of Health confirmed that the manufacturer of the drug reported the existence of counterfeit products with the numbers: (P0009403) and (1000308). These counterfeit products were found in some countries and sold by an illegal distributor. Noting that the serial numbers do belong to the original product.
