In less than 4 hours…Dubai Police arrests man in Abaya for theft

Within four hours from receiving the theft report, Dubai Police identified a thief who had committed crime while disguised as a local woman in Abaya and Niqab (face cover).

According to the director of Naif Police Station, Brigadier Tariq Tehlak, the Asian national robbed AED146,000 and $22,000 from the company he worked for and left no evidence behind.

“Upon receiving the report, a team was formed to investigate the crime scene,” “Our investigators analysed the footage retrieved from the company CCTV cameras and noticed that the suspect who was disguised as a woman wearing the local Abaya and Niqab,” Brig. Tehlak said

“The thief had left no fingerprints and used napkins to open the drawers and steal the cash. He seemed not to have force-entered the crime scene, so we started investigating the company’s employees,” Brig. Tehlak explained

Brig. Tehlak confirmed that they utilised body language analysis and criminal profiling of the suspect movement to identify the man and singled him out among the other employees.

The stolen money was retrieved and returned to the company’s owner, who in turn, expressed his sincere gratitude for Dubai Police’s swift and fast response to his report.
