Dubai Civil Court has ordered the payment of Dh800,000 to a young Russian man and his sister as a compensation for the deaths of their parents in a crash on a flydubai plane two years ago on March 19, 2016 in the Russian city of Rostov.
The brother and sister initially demanded $20 million (Dh73.6m) in compensation after their parents who were killed along with 62 passengers and crew members in a plane crash in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, in 2016.
They accused the crew of flight FZ981, which was travelling from Dubai to Rostov-on-Don, of causing the crash and filed a case against flydubai in September last year. The court referred the case to the General Civil Aviation Authority in December.
For its part, flydubai extended its condolences to the families, pointing out that the team responsible for following up this file and providing care for them will remain available as long as required.
A spokesman for flydubai said: “The company expresses its respect for the decision of the court and Fly Dubai will remain committed to settling claims in accordance with applicable laws.
