RAK: Couple to be jailed, deported for exchanging nude photos

The Court of Criminal Appeal in the Ras Al Khaimah confirmed the ruling of a first instance court yesterday, stating that a 20-year-old man a 19-year-old woman, both of whom are nationals of an Asian country, get a suspended three-month jail term and deportation, on charges of sending and exchanging their naked images, and having consensual sex out of wedlock.

Records showed that the man had threatened to defame the woman and post her nude pictures on social media if she left him.
When alerted about the threat, the woman’s mother complained against him with the RAK Police.The man admitted to Rak police of trespassing her father’s house with her help, alleging that the woman was the one who started sending him her nude pictures and told him to do the same.

The defendant told the court that he did have sex with the woman when she was still a minor with her consent on their first date. The woman admitted to all the charges against her. The court found both defendants guilty and issued a suspended three-month imprisonment verdict against them. They were also ordered to be deported out of the country.
