WhatsApp’s New Feature Will Let Users Edit Messages Even After Sending Them

Meta-owned WhatsApp is working on a feature that will enable the users to edit the sent messages. This will help the senders to edit and correct the silly typos and other wrong information. Wabetainfo, a website that keeps track of all WhatsApp-related news, noticed the functionality.

WhatsApp has made important changes to the way we communicate with one another. After the release of the feature to react to messages, WhatsApp will soon allow users to amend messages after they have been sent.

The messaging app, currently, does not have a specific editing feature. A text may only be removed once it has been sent. According to the reports, the new feature will come as a dedicated button in the top bar, showing up alongside the options to copy text and forward the message when a message is long pressed.

“Probably there won’t be an edit history to check previous versions of edited messages, but since this feature is under development, their plans may change before releasing the feature. In addition, details about the time window to let people edit their messages are unknown at the moment, but we will immediately let you know when there is news,” Wabetainfo report said.

The Facebook-owned company has been checking the functionality on WhatsApp beta for Android, however, WhatsApp is working to introduce the feature on WhatsApp beta for iOS and Desktop as well.

The Wabetainfo report also suggested that the feature is still in development and the actual time for the feature to be ready can’t be estimated, WhatsApp may begin rolling it out to more beta users shortly.
