Abu Dhabi: Two Asian workers rescued after getting stuck while window cleaning

Civil defense teams in Abu Dhabi have rescued two Asian workers who were trapped in a platform while cleaning a building at Al Qarm road. A team of civil defence fixed the platform with ropes and used an escalator to rescue the workers.

The Abu Dhabi Police Central Operations Command and Control received a report that a window cleaning platform was damaged in a building on Al Qarm road, with two Asian workers in it, confused and afraid of falling.

Maj. Gen. Abdullah Hamad Al Tamimi, Cheif of Media and Public Relations Department of Abu Dhabi’s Civil Defense Department, stated that a team of civil defense immediately contacted the workers and reassured them, the platform was fixed quickly to prevent it from swinging, and an escalator was used to rescue the workers.

Al Tamimi called on maintenance and general contracting companies to carry out regular maintenance of scaffolding to ensure their safety. He also stressed the importance of training workers and providing safety equipment to avoid risk in similar events.
