Dr. Mohammed Al falasi, Emirati, head of ENT surgery at Tawam Hospital, succeeded in eradicating a stage 4 (5 cm) cancerous tumor from the mouth of a 50-year-old patient. The operation took 10 continuous hours, leading the number of these rare surgeries to reach 50, with a success rate exceeding 90 percent.

Dr. Al falasi elaborated on the details of the surgery, stating that the tumor was removed by removing part of the patient’s cheek. After the tumor was removed, the facial area was restored by taking tissue from the patient’s hand and implanting it in the cheek area using a microscopic cosmetic procedure. Which wouldn’t have been possible without the advanced techniques in diagnosis and testing.
The patient used to get radiation and chemotherapy, and now, with the availability of advanced technologies, expertise and medical competencies, the melignant tumor has been extracted successfully. The patient recovered completely, and is currently practicing his life naturally, without any side effects.
