Abu Dhabi: Arab man accused of blackmailing GCC woman

The Abu Dhabi Court of Appeal, has amended the ruling of an Arab man, who was sentenced to one year in prison for threatening and blackmailing a GCC woman of posting her photos on social media.

The prosecution had charged the accused, of blackmailing the victim of posting her pictures in case she did not pay him AED 63,000, in addition to the charge of deceiving her using a fake name, and the charge of illegally entering the country.

The accused denied the charges explaining that it was the victim who initiated a friendship with him on social media, and that it was her that offered the AED 63,000 to assist him in finding a job and staying in the UAE, and that she willingly sent her pictures to him, and agreed that he would pay her AED 10,000 monthly to return the money he borrowed  from her.
