Ajman: Asian man fined AED 5,000 for taking videos of two girls in public

The Ajman Criminal Court sentenced a 28-year-old Asian defendant to pay a fine of AED 5,000 dirhams and confiscated his mobile phone for invading the privacy of two Asian girls who were shopping in a shopping mall in Ajman and taking videos of two of them from different angles, and in more than one shop within the mall.

According to the complainants, they had no contact or previous relations with the suspect. He photographed them in different locations without their consent. The first complainant stated that her friend told her that someone was filming them. The two girls then approached the man and asked to see his device, when they opened it, they saw seven videos of them in different shops.

The accused admitted in the Public Prosecution’s investigation that he was photographing the shops, and that the two girls happened to be inside the market, and were not intended to be photographed.
