Dubai Police, Interpol arrest teacher for hacking and deleting school data

Under the directives of HE Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, following up with HE Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Criminal Investigation of Dubai Police arrested the former Head of Information Technology at a school, along with the International Criminal Police (Interpol), in Italy after issuing an international arrest warrant against him, after he was accused of hacking and saving the school files, taking advantage of his position to access the data.

Brigadier Abdul Rahim bin Shafie, Director of Al Barsha Police Station, confirmed that the centre received a report from the school stating that the former director of the IT department who had been working for them for 16 years, and deleted the files of the school which has 18 branches in the country, which affected the course of the study process among these schools.

Brigadier Abdul Rahim stated that the head of the information technology department, an Arab national, took advantage of the authorities granted to him, by having all the passwords to access to the school data and hacked the files after he left the country. Brig. Abdul Rahim also pointed out that the police station in Al Barsha worked in collaboration with the Department of Cyber Crime and the Interpol to form a team to follow up the report, pointing out that experts in the management of cyber crimes immediately went to school and were able to retrieve deleted files and secure the school network and their data.
