Dubai Economy urges consumers to ensure accuracy of invoices

Dubai Economy has advised all consumers to check that the detailed invoices of all their purchases are accurate. In case of inaccurate purchase invoices, Dubai Economy will take action against the violating outlets and return the additional value to the consumer.

The main objective is to promote awareness and protect the rights of consumers during the purchase of products, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, which is witnessing an increase in the demand for goods and consumer products.

Mohammed Ali Rashid Lootah, Executive Director, Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Division of Dubai Economy, stated that commercial establishments would be fined if there was an unjustified increase in prices. We, therefore, urge all consumers to check the accuracy of their receipts, and to report any increase or excessive prices in the invoices by submitting complaints through the ‘Dubai Consumer’ application, website www.consumerrights.ae, or the call centre 600545555.

Lootah stressed that consumers must keep a copy of their bills to protect their rights later if they find a difference in prices, and in case the merchant refuses to give the invoice, a complaint must be filed and Dubai Economy will take necessary action.
